Dr. Moustapha Mbengue s’intéresse depuis plus d’une décennie à la problématique des enjeux sociaux des TIC et c’est en cela qu’il jette un regard sur les enjeux culturels de l’Internet, cette technologie qui est tantôt brandie comme étant une menace pour la culturelle africaine, alors que certains spécialistes y voient bien au contraire une chance pour le continent noir. Il s’agira alors pour lui, au-delà du débat « théorique » de partir d’exemples et de vécus pour permettre à chacun de voir et de mesurer les réels enjeux de l’Internet pour l’Afrique et pour le monde.

"Excellent Posting! It is refreshing to find colleagues wit the same vision of deploying the TIC in Africa and certainly raising awareness about the potentials of using the TICS to promote transformational change in societies we live in, particularly in Africa. I have been interested in the last 12 years in research related to elearning, social learning environment and Open Education.My researcch group at Southern unoiversity in Louisiana focuses on these research areas and also, of course, technology transfer to Africa. I received in 2008 the MERLOT International Award for eLearning Innovation, for work targeting specially Africa. I have a convinction that we can use the TICs as a weapons for educational transformation in Africa and also peaceful socio-political transitions we need so badly.The latter conviction led me to develop a pilot social network (waxtaanou-senegal.org) to engage senegalese diaspora in discussing peaceful choices for a country we all love. The aim here is to conduct socio-political research related to transformational change and social networking. I am sadden by the recent evenements of Dakar, and believe that the senegalese are intelligent people that need to be more cyber-engaged.
